At just 10 years old, Kendall Rae Johnson—Georgia’s youngest certified farmer—was surprised with a full scholarship during a visit to South Carolina State University. Her love for farming began in a patio garden with her great-grandmother and quickly blossomed into a full-fledged passion.
Kendall now runs her own nonprofit, Kendall Rae’s Green Heart, which teaches kids about agriculture, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Her dedication has earned her statewide recognition, including a day named in her honor.
During a recent college tour with the USDA, Kendall explored SCSU’s agricultural programs—and got to ride a tractor—before being awarded a scholarship worth over $83,000.
She’ll continue growing fruits and vegetables on her South Fulton farm while inspiring the next generation of young farmers.
