Authorities responded Thursday afternoon to reports of a shooting at a Kroger grocery store in Collierville, WHBQ-TV reported. Officials told the news station they were responding to reports of an active shooting situation around 2 p.m. local time, which remained ongoing Thursday afternoon. At least nine people have been shot, WHBQ reported, citing unidentified law enforcement sources.
SCSO deputies are on site of a shooting at Kroger located at 240 New Byhalia Road in Collierville to support Collierville Police Department. SCSO is assisting with securing the perimeter and scene.

Update 4 p.m. EDT Sept. 23: Memphis police are assisting Collierville police as they work to secure the scene of Thursday’s shooting.

Update 3:55 p.m. EDT Sept. 23: Collierville High School was placed under lockdown Thursday afternoon following reports of an active shooter situation at the nearby Kroger grocery store, WHBQ reported.
The lockdown has since been lifted and students have been dismissed, according to the news station.
