Travis Scott said he will pay a semester of tuition for a Morehouse freshman.
Earlier this week, Scott tweeted that he would pay for a semester for five students who attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Morehouse freshman Nasire Branch responded to the Tweet telling Scott a bit about himself.
Branch said he plans to major in business administration and marketing and hopes to have a career in creative directing. “COVID has taken away my prom, my senior graduation, and my freshman year at Morehouse,” Branch wrote. “I have been listening to Travis Scott since my freshman year of high school and today (he) tweeted he wants to take care of 5 students tuition! This could change my life!”
Branch goes on to say he is a first-generation HBCU student with a 3.2 GPA and that his family is doing everything they can to get him through college.
The Tweet was retweeted thousands of times and got the attention of Scott.
“My mom always wanted me to go here!” Scott wrote. “Just lock in and come out of there ready to change the world.”
Scott has also chosen a Howard University freshman to sponsor. He still hasn’t chosen the last three recipients.
Scott was apparently in a generous mood this week, offering to buy fans several things including a Playstation 5, AirPods and giving away clothes and shoes he wore on tour.
