Zoom outages affect virtual learning for metro schools

The Zoom app, a popular video conferencing platform, is experiencing outages worldwide. This app has been adopted by businesses and schools to supplement their workflow as many look for virtual options.

Cobb County Schools sent a notice to staff and parents just after 8 a.m. Monday. The district alerted all that the outage occurred but the staff is working with executives from the app on a timetable of when it may be fixed.

Cobb schools did note that its CTLS platform is working and available for use by students and staff.

Atlanta Public Schools is also being affected by the Zoom outage. The district acknowledged the outage on Twitter. Parents and students will be contacted by their respective schools about plans for virtual learning until this issue is resolved.

Georgia’s largest school district, Gwinnett County, is also working through Zoom issues. The district posted on Twitter that students should log into their respective teachers course pages for information.
