Per cbs46- The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said one of the women they believed set fire to the Wendy’s restaurant where Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed, has surrendered to police.
The Sheriff’s Office tweeted out Tuesday afternoon that Natalie White has been taken into custody.
White was taken into custody around 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Buckhead and she is currently being processed into the Fulton County Jail.
The Atlanta Fire Department issued warrants on Saturday for White, 29, for arson in the 1st degree. Attorney Drew Findling will represent White. Findling said his client is not responsible for the fire that destroyed the fast-food restaurant off University Avenue earlier this month. He also said White was a close friend to Brooks and had no criminal record.
The attorney also said he has been negotiating with the district attorney’s office since the weekend about when White would surrender.
Findling said he expects his client will be given a signature bond.
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office tweeted out photos of White as she was taken into custody on Tuesday. The agency helped locate her and notified the the U.S. Marshal’s Office and the Fulton County Sheriff’s office. Early in the investigation, Chief Fire Investigator James Oliver said the fire at the restaurant was started in multiple locations using everything from homemade blow torches to fireworks.
Demonstrators threw bricks and rocks at firefighters as they tried to get to the restaurant, and they couldn’t start fighting the blaze until it had destroyed the building, Atlanta Fire Chief Randall Slaughter has said.
There is at least one other suspect investigators are looking for in this case. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. There is currently a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
