Atlanta United announced Saturday that another player has tested positive for COVID-19. The club previously reported its first positive case Thursday.

The second player was asymptomatic and has been in isolation since Wednesday. The players’ names have not been released, but both are members of the First Team. No other players or staff have tested positive.

The team had non-contact, individual training sessions on Friday and Saturday. Mandatory testing will happen again Monday morning.

“Since Atlanta United began individual player workouts on May 6, the club has followed MLS health and safety guidelines, including proper physical distancing and sanitization during individual workouts, small group training sessions and full group training sessions,” Atlanta United said in a statement. “The club will continue to work in close consultation with the CDC, local health authorities and Major League Soccer regarding testing and training guidelines.”

Atlanta United isn’t the only team who has had a player test positive for COVID-19. Inter Miami announced its first case this week. Philadelphia Union and F.C. Dallas also reported cases.

MLS teams have been preparing for the season to resume on July 8 with a tournament in Orlando at the Wide World of Sports complex. The league has set up testing rules for when teams arrive.

During their first two weeks, every person will be tested every other day. After those two weeks, players, coaches and staff will be tested regularly, including a day before each game.
