Tip continues to make positive efforts in his community through criminal reform.

T.I. has joined a newly-appointed task force in Atlanta whose duty will be to come up with a new use for the city’s jail. The jail has seen a persistent decline in population since the existing building was built in 1995, and Mayor Bottoms has been wanting to put the facility to better use.

“It is a top priority of the Mayor Bottoms to put this underutilized facility to more productive use as a multi-faceted use center for wellness and healing, skills-building, economic mobility, and crime prevention for people, families and communities impacted by the history of over-incarceration,” a press release about the task force reads.

The 25-member team includes city activists, council members, and criminal justice reform volunteers. The group gathers to constructively brainstorm alternative ways to use the Atlanta City Detention Center. Their recommendations will then be given to Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for approval.
