Akon and former CEO and President of Motown Records worldwide, Kedar Massenburg have co-founded The Akonik Label Group (ALG). This is the first time ever an artist has established a multi-national, multi-cultural label group. The newly formed label group will be distributed globally by BMG and will maintain offices in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
The Label Group is comprised of four record labels, Akonda, Akonik, Ke Lo Ke, and Jamakon, that will be signing and promoting artists from different regions in the world.
The Akonda label will host a repertoire of Afro Beats talent. Akonik record label will concentrate on signing and promoting talent in the U.S. and Europe. The Ke Lo Ke label will promote the sounds and culture of Latin America inclusive of Mexico and Puerto Rico. and Jamakon, the Caribbean label will concentrate on signing and developing artists from that region.
Their vision for each label is to sign, market and promote the most talented regional artists, engage a core following and ultimately provide them with a global platform to achieve broader success.
