Yes, you read it right. R. Kelly was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, reported Cook County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari, but this time due to his failure to pay around two-hundred thousand dollars in child support.
The 52-year-old R&B singer was taken into custody yesterday at a hearing after failing to pay his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, more than one hundred and sixty one thousand dollars by today’s court deadline. They share three children; 20-year-old Joann, Jay, 18, and Robert Jr., 16.
Kelly’s spokesperson said the singer was prepared to pay most of the debt, but the judge demanded that he pay the entire debt immediately. His publicist, Darryll Johnson added that Kelly was unable to pay the entire cost due to his other legal troubles that have prevented him from working.
