US Coast Guard Finds 17 Tons of Cocaine!
Six U.S. Coast Guard cutter crews offloaded 17 tons of cocaine early on Tuesday at Port Everglades in Fort. Lauderdale, Florida. The drugs have an estimated wholesale value of $466 million. The cocaine was found in 21 separate sectors of apparent drug-smuggling vessels off the coasts of Mexico, Central, and South America.
The Coast Guard’s work comes with plenty of obstacles that they must conquer, including adapting to smugglers constantly coming up with new ways to maneuver around detection out on the water like using submerged vessels. “We’re going up against an enemy, these drug organizations, that have guns and they have money and they have means and they shoot back, so there are risks all around,” said Adm. Craig Faller, commander of U.S. Southern Command.
