An 11-year-old girl which Cincinnati police say was allegedly stealing from a general store was stunned with a Taser. Police say the occurrence happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday at a Kroger in Cincinnati.

Eyewitnesses say the officer presumed the young lady was utilizing a bag to shoplift when the officer moved toward her. Police say the young lady fled before she was stunned.

The young lady was then taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for assessment and was discharged into a gatekeeper’s guardianship, CBS affliate WKRC-TV reports.

Police have accused the young lady of robber. She will show up in adolescent court moreover, a date was not set.

Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac has opened an examination. As indicated by the division’s arrangement, Tasers can be utilized on individuals who are 7 years of age or older.

“We are extremely concerned when force is used by one of our officers on a child of this age,” Isaac said in a statement. “As a result, we will be taking a very thorough review of our policies as it relates to using force on juveniles as well as the propriety of the officer’s actions.”

Mayor Christopher Smitherman shares that a “complete examination” should occur.

The officer involved has been placed on restricted duty.
