The rapper, Jay-Z, and his company, Roc Nation will invest in $3 Million into an application that will help combat mass incarceration.

The application will be called Promise. According to the website, the app was created by Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins and Diana Frappier. The main goal is to “get people out of jail and provide ongoing support and supervision to help keep them out.” The mission and hopes for this platform is to be a substitute to imprisoned individuals who cannot afford bail or ones who frequently miss their court dates. The app will allow them to log upcoming court dates, counseling appointments, and drug test.

Also the app will feature forms of rehabilitation; they plan to provide programs for users that will assist with job training and getting information about housing. Jay-Z confirmed his involvement in this project when he said “Money, time. and lives are wasted with the current policies. It’s time for an innovative and progressive technology that offers sustainable solutions to tough problems. Promise’s team, led by Phaedra, is building an app that can provide liberty and justice for all to millions.”

We couldn’t be more proud and excited for the new innovations Jay-Z helps push forward next. Keep your eyes open for the app, Promise!
