The streetz are talking! News got out today that Tidal Music Service and Sprint Company made a deal worth $200 million. Sprint would acquire 33% of Tidal’s stake, in exchange for tidal becoming available to Sprint’s 45 million retail customers. the CEO of sprint, Marcelo Claure, has also joined Tidal’s board of directors. “Jay saw not only a business need, but a cultural one, and put his heart and grit into building TIDAL into a world-class music streaming platform that is unrivaled in quality and content,” Claure said in a statement. “The passion and dedication that these artist-owners bring to fans will enable Sprint to offer new and existing customers access to exclusive content and entertainment experiences in a way no other service can.”
Tidal and Sprint’s relationship dates back about 2 years ago, in March 2015, when rumors surfaced that Sprint was looking into purchasing a stake of Tidal. However, the deal never followed through until now. It seems like this is a great investment and partnership for these two multi-million dollar companies!
