{MIDDAYS W/JAZZY MCBEE} CHRISETTE MICHELE SAYS SHE IS REPRESENTING “US” BY SINGING AT THE INAUGURATION

ARE YOU? OR ARE YOU A SELLOUT??

Chrisette Michele joined the list of performers at Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration” inauguration. She will also be joining Sam Moore, 3 Doors Down, Jon Voight, and Toby Keith. Broadway singer Jennifer Holliday was scheduled to perform but then cancelled, due to a “lapse of judgement.” “America’s Got Talent” singer Jackie  Evancho and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will perform at Trump’s swearing-in ceremony also. In response to Chrisette’s announcement to performing,  she stated in an “open letter”, “My heart is broken for our country, for the hopes of our children, for the fights of those who came before us. I cry at the thought that Black History, American History might be in vain. This country has had great moments. God has shined His light upon us.Today, I hope that Great Moments begin in peaceful & progressive conversation. I am willing to be a bridge. I don’t mind “These Stones”, if they allow me to be a voice for the voiceless. I am here. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, ‘Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about what matters. I am here, representing you, because this is what matters’.” She has received terrible backlash from her fans and other celebrities including, Questlove, who even offered to pay Michele not to perform.

Does she really have a point? Or is she selling out?
