WSBTV 2 Atlanta reported:

“With the holiday season rapidly approaching, shoppers are packing malls looking for that perfect gift.

But as you head out to the stores, Atlanta police are urging shoppers to be on alert and to stay vigilant.

A recent heist caught on camera at the Prada store at Lenox Square is one the reasons why police are urging caution.

“It’s teaching little kids it’s OK to take something that isn’t yours. Walk into the store get it and walk out. Don’t worry about the consequences,” shopper Dana King told Channel 2’s Nefertiti Jaquez.

King said she cannot believe the three men recently managed to swipe thousands of dollars worth of designer purses.

“They have spent a lot of time casing the stores to get in and out and not worry about security,” King said.

The incident happened about three weeks ago just before 8 p.m. Police said the trio casually walked into the store before separating, snatching purses and taking off.

Watching the surveillance video, Jaquez counted and it took the group 13 seconds to steal 11 purses worth $30,000.

“Does that worry you as somebody who’s shopping during the holidays? Jaquez asked King.

“It does worry me because you don’t who’s watching you while you’re watching,” King said.

But the police don’t want you to be worried this holiday season.

So whether it’s a criminal who targets unlocked vehicles, or distracted shoppers talking on a cellphones carrying a handfuls of bags, police said they’ll be watching.

But they said they also need you to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity.”
