WORKING HARD OR HARDLY WORKING?
Laura Rich, a 38-year-old substitute teacher, was arrested in Acworth, Ga for having sex with two teenage students on September 23. She was investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and charged with two counts of sexual assault by a teacher. Rich was released on a $22,400 bond after being arrested and charged.
According to detectives, Rich had sex with one of her 16-year-old students back in early 2015. She also had sex with an 18-year-old student later that same year. Investigators confirmed that both of the incidents happened at Rich’s home in Acworth. Both events happened while Rich was a teacher at Ace Academy in Canton, Ga.
She worked at the school up until August 19, 2016. The Cherokee County School District told 11Alive in a statement that Rich was “no longer permitted” to be a substitute in the district and that there was a “zero tolerance” policy for unprofessional relationships with students.
