NELLY’S DIE HARD FANS HELP HIM OUT OF DEBT
Earlier this week news leaked that Nelly was in over 2.4 million in debt due to back taxes. Since then his fans took it into their hands to do something about it. Die-hard fans have started a movement in making sure that his debt is paid.
After tweets and massive hashtagging #SaveNelly, reports have shown that streaming of old Nelly tracks have become a hot topic all over the internet.
Nelly’s 2002 smash hit single ‘Hot in Herre’ has been streamed on Spotify more than 287 million times over the past week while the hash tag #SaveNelly has been a trending topic on social media.
Spotify pays artists somewhere between $0.006 and $0.0084 per stream. So that means fans would have to stream his music about 402 million times to help him out if his royalties are on the low end of that spectrum.
No exact words yet from Nelly on what he thinks of all the love, but it could be that fans just want to pay him with love and support.
